Navigating challenges in the Salon & Spa industry
Covid….Whats our future?
If you’re like me, hearing about another strain of Covid infecting people brings back bad memories – not just of the suffering of our loved ones but the terrible effects it had on the salon industry. The pandemic forced us to adapt if we wanted to survive, juggling priorities such as the health and safety of our clients and salon staff, while protecting our livelihoods during strict lockdowns, client hesitancy and reduced capacity. What made it even harder was figuring out what rules and regulations our government were imposing – compliance is crucial to avoiding fines and ensuring public safety. We were left trying to navigate through confusing edicts and conflicting hearsay. Our staff and our clients rely on us to know what’s real and what isn’t. After all the fear and stress, it was amazing to see so many business owners in our industry meet that challenge with courage, creativity and the will to succeed!
Many say we will experience another pandemic in the near future. Are we ready? Have we learned anything from the last one? We need more than a segment on the nightly news or a social media post to inform us. As a salon owner and a stylist I know that if we don’t come together we will be as confused and powerless as we were in 2020. This inspired me to create a site that would be a forum for the industry. BeautyStar will be a place to connect and unite those of us that will need that guidance while also educating those making the rules about the issues we salon owners deal with. BeautyStar will keep abreast of all upcoming laws and regulations as well as introduce industry leaders and political figures so that we have a voice. Take a minute and explore the site and give me your feedback. No matter what the future holds, let’s move through every challenge with the courage and creativity that makes us unlike any other industry in the world!
